As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. To some people a picture is worth more than words. They want to ensure that no one will download the image they’ve worked so hard on and pass it off as their own. Once you post an image online pretty much anyone can download it and use it to their heart’s content. There is little you can do to stop this from happening. You can get credit for that image though by watermarking it.

The process of embedding content into an image in a way that is difficult to remove is called watermarking. The watermark identifies the owner of the image, mainly you. So if anyone uses one of your watermarked images, everyone will know the images are yours.


Out of all the various tools you can use to watermark your images, I would like to draw attention to the Image Tools Group-developed Easy Watermark Creator. Personally I think the name says it all. But I am going to spell it out anyway. This piece of software can be used to add a watermark to your images. The watermarks can contain text, image, and color, both solid and semi-transparent colors. On top of that, using this software application is a very straightforward process (the “easy” part in the application’s name).

Once you have downloaded the software and installed it onto your machine, the whole watermarking process is very straightforward. All you have to do is click “open a picture” then “add new watermark” and play with the settings a bit to make sure everything is up to your needs. If you should ever run into a problem, press F1 for help. Or click Help -> Tutorial and you will be directed to a webpage that covers everything you need to know about using Easy Watermark Creator.

Easy Watermark Creator and its set of tools allow the novice and experienced computer user watermark and thus protect their images – at a very low cost.
